Regarding the Request
The type of Music
The music I've composed for clients thus far has been classical, focusing on traditional instruments, such as piano, guitar, and orchestral instruments. The styles I work with range from romantic to atonal contemporary music.
The music is provided in the form of sheet music. At the moment, I do not provide computer music.
In addition to compositions, I accept requests for arrangements and score preparation where I make a clean copy of a given piece of work using Finale.
The commission fee
The fee is dependent on the music style, length, instrumentation, and the density of notes.
For example, the minimum rate for a tonal solo or duo piece is 10,000 yen per minute, but an atonal solo or duo piece is 15,000 yen per minute. From here, additional costs may be added to works that require extra labor and time. Therefore, a short piece may end up costing more than a longer piece if the piece has a fast tempo or a large set of instruments.
For ensembles larger than a trio (including full orchestra), a fee for creating the sheet music for the individual parts will be added.
Regarding score preparation, as examples, a piano score (four or five sets of staves per page) or a guitar score (six or seven staves per page) starts at 3,000 yen per page. This likewise depends on the content, so please feel free to consult me by Email or from the contact page.
The request date and delivery date
The lead time from request to delivery is dependent on the type of work and my schedule. It is safest to contact me about half a year before the desired delivery date, but do not hesitate to contact me about my availability for a shorter schedule.
Score preparation can generally be completed on a much shorter timeline than a composition, within about several weeks if my schedule allows, though this also depends on the size of the work.
About payment
I will send an invoice to you within one week of the completed delivery. You will receive instructions to transfer money to my bank account.
